DescriptionCover dated February 2019.Typhoid Mary being her evil mutant self as part of the "Typhoid Fever" crossover a few years back. Daredevil sure can pick 'em. I think I first saw Italian artist Paolo Villanelli's work on the "Lando - Double or Nothing" miniseries, which I thoroughly enjoyed (I loved Donald Glover's take on Lando Calrissian in "Solo," and I thought the miniseries gave us a good story with that interpretation of the character). I next saw Paolo's work on this Typhoid Fever comic when I read it on Marvel Unlimited, and that led me to this page. If I understand correctly, most of this issue was created digitally, but this splash was done traditionally. It's Typhoid Mary in all of her chaotic glory. Now enjoy one of my favorite Paramore songs, which seems appropriate here. Social/Sharing |

Best Typhoid ever! (Lol, John C). I really dig his style here, with all that inked detail. And her expression is perfect. DD seems to really be into the crazy ones...Very cool cover. Congrats!

Mary, Mary... Why ya buggin?
Mary, Mary... I don't be huggin
Had a guy Paolo Vilanelli
Next thing I spent up all my money
Had me in debt, you and your girl's splashy
Daredevil attack in your chaotic glory
You could draw digitally, With pen
Like you put me in pain when I was The Hand
I spend and I spend and you spent and you spent
Now Typhoid with a splash is comic art event
Mary, Mary... Why assassin?
Mary, Mary... I need ya huggin

If the Monkees had used these lyrics when they performed Mike Nesmith's original version of the song, perhaps they would now be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

I LOVED this character when she came out during the seminal Romita Jr. run. It felt like we had a new Elektra to harrass Daredevil again. This is a very lovely illustration of her. How fortunate that the artist chose to hand draw this one in order to make it available to a collector! Never heard of the band, but I enjoyed the song, too.

Glad you enjoyed the song. I'm the only Paramore fan I know who was born before 1982, and most of my friends and family either never heard of them or only know the song "Misery Business." I saw them at Radio City Music Hall the Wednesday night before New York Comic Con in 2017, and I was the oldest person there who wasn't chaperoning teenagers. And yeah, those early appearances of Typhoid Mary were great.

Suh-weet rendition of a great character! Check out that expression - so happy in her ca-raziness! I dig that swirling energy, too. Congrats!

TM is such a dynamic and crazy character. I recall first reading about her in the 90's and she always stood out from that B-list of villains. Always X-Citing to see her energy pop back into the books. Congrats on this fun highly energetic piece.

Beautiful inks on this piece, Michael! Excellent movement here; with the way everything's swirling, regardless of where your eye originally lands, it is powerless to resist being shuttled upwards and landing right where Paolo no doubt intended it to; on the expression of manic joy by our own Ms. Mary here. It feels very Phoenix-like in its presentation, and is all the stronger for it! Great piece, Michael - congrats!

Funny you should mention Phoenix, because the very first time I saw this artwork, I thought it was depicting Typhoid Mary with the Phoenix Force given the shape of the light swirling around her (then I read the comic and saw that no, it wasn't the Phoenix Force). Thank you (and all) for the great comment!
