DescriptionBatman Year 100 #2 Pg. 13. Art/Pencils/Inks and Written by Paul Pope. The lead up to Batman Day continues! Batman Year 100 is one of my favorite alternate takes or twists on Batman in the modern era (the 4 issue mini-series came out in 2006) from the brilliant writer/artist creator Paul Pope. If you haven't had a chance to read it yet, I highly recommend it. Paul's art in general and especially from this series have always been in high demand (all pages of art that were offered up have been sold) and I was honestly shocked/lucky I was able to score 1 page back when the art from issue 2 dropped. Thanks again to Felix! Batman technically appears on this page (in costume and without), but it's a bit harder to see him in costume within the lower left panel hanging from an upside down/odd angle doing some surveillance. A bit easier to see in the final colored/published page - which you can check out in the additional images area. My only minor challenges with this is that these pages (and a lot of Paul's art) are difficult to store/display, as they are very much oversized (19" x 24"). I'm literally storing this page in the box it came in, for now. Ha. This also makes it difficult to get a fresh high resolution scan, as it is way too big for my scanner. This scan was sent to me by Felix with the watermark removed from the one he had up on his website but it's not the greatest quality/resolution, so hopefully I can upgrade the scan at some point somehow. Very happy to have an example from one of my favorite Batman stories though for sure!!! Song Choice: "Molossus" by James Newton Howard & Hans Zimmer (Batman Begins soundtrack) Social/Sharing |

ha the build-up has now also become a countdown for me having no more Batman art left to post but hopefully I can add more to the collection down the line.

We're countin' together
Pope draws it so well
A page with the old Bat
The worth, who can tell?
I guess there is no art to claim
There're notes around (leaving ground)
Will page ever be scanned again?
It's the Bat Day countdown
The Bat Day countdown

Somehow Paul gives you the feeling of those quick cut scenes in a movie on a page!

I really like how Pope composed each panel. I just checked and my library has a copy of the deluxe edition, so I've just reserved it on your recommendation!
As for scanning it, there's no other way than to scan it in pieces and stitch them all together. I've done that close to two hundred times for paintings in my collection and combined withthe time spent color correcting after the stitching was done, each one took between 60 and 90 minutes. It's a labor of love. It HAS TO BE!

I may need an educational tutorial session from you on that stitching and color correcting stuff but im honestly afraid to put a piece that size into my scanner without screwing it up ha

I love all the graphic architecture. Great score. Some very nice storytelling with cool angles. But agreed displaying the art is furstrating cause those lines are just going to fade. I had the issue with my 100% page. Make sure that glass is UV and keep it out of the sun.
