DescriptionSpider-Man really doesn't know what he is swinging into on this dark and absolutely brutal commission from Eduardo Risso.I just recently learned about Risso's work and oh man, have I been sleeping! I picked up Batman Noir deluxe edition and was extremely impressed with his style. 100 Bullets is next on the list. There are also some great examples of his work here on CAF and when I saw this one for sale, I did not hesitate. His use of black and white is among the best out there (I immediately think Frank Miller and José Muñoz) and that is on full display with this piece. From the whites of the eyes to the smoke from the match, the contrast is just outstanding. I am very proud to own this Risso Spider-Man. Big thanks to Steven at Tangled Web Art for this awesome artwork! I doubt this will be my only Risso piece, and am also now aware that his artwork is available from his son Nicolâs -NRissoart, and is right here on CAF. How cool is this website? Social/Sharing |

That tattoo on Kingpins' arm is your 100 Bullets crossover. The way Risso controls the darkness is like how Kingpin controls his empire. Nothing escapes his attention and there is nothing that does not belong if he can help it.

Okay, I definitely wondered about that. That is a really cool easter egg! In Batman Noir, Little Boy has a similar but not exact symbol on her bandanna.

great piece - that contrast and the shadow over Kingpin's face from lighting the cigar! Agree that the Batman: Noir designation was made for Risso.

Yes, the face especially! Nice touch with the bottoms of the shoes as well.

Wonderful example of Risso's high contrast work. Looks like Kingpin borrowed Lucille from Negan and went to town with her! The terror in the eyes of the still living victim is palpable....

I almost wanted to say Neganesque. Haha it really is. Terrifying.

Beautiful. The use of negative space here is incredible. Love the rendition of Wilson Fisk!

My Spidey Sense is tingling! I think something is wrong inside that...Oh, God...PUKE! A very special Spidey commission. This is magnificent work. Those inks are like a black hole, and Risso's use of values to create images, like that blood, is amazing. Frank Miller, obviously, but it's his own, too. That blacked out lackey with the wide eyes is so good. Fantastic commission. Congrats!

I've always liked Risso's work. My eye is drawn to works with heavy blacks, high contrast pieces. This one stands out with Kingpin in black with white panes on both sides. Your eyes go straight to Kingpin. Beautiful piece!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Risso should not be allowed to work in color ever again. I mean, is anyone out there doing b&w better than this guy right now?

Gorgeous work by Eduardo Risso! I love this scene with the thick dark blacks within the office of the Kingpin, who has just killed two people. The extreme use of whites and blacks is almost Miller-esque in its use. And then, contrasted with the office scene, is Spider-Man, swinging across a cityscape of buildings, all white and pristine, the only black is on Spidey himself. The contrast is so great, it says worlds about the differences between the Kingpin and Spider-Man. Love it!

The lighting of the cigar is reminiscent of enjoying a smoke after a very pleasuarble event. That tied in with the blood splatter which is white like the rest of the office. Kingpin's world is black and Spider-man's is white. Which will win...a great battle is about to ensue. Awesome piece.
