DescriptionAction-packed page from the second issue of Do A Powerbomb featuring Cobrasun squaring off with Kaneda the Destroyer. If you've read the series, you know that Cobrasun, seen here taking a lighting tube to the back and a fork to the chest, is more than the ruthless heel he seems to be in the first issue of the series.To me, action scenes in DWJ's work are a little more meaningful than in most mainstream genre comics because Johnson takes the time to develop his characters, particularly characters who, at first, seem one-dimensional. His thoughtful approach to storytelling and character development pays off when his characters inflict violence, or when violence is inflicted on them. God that's good! I can feel the impact... Love the s***-eating grin on Kaneda's mug in that central panel. Who's the heel here, BTW? I guess it's heel-on-heel action, and as much action on one page as I've ever seen

I'm of a similar mindset. I tend to prefer stories about wrestling and wrestlers more than modern pro wrestling.

The theatrics of pro wrestling are put on full display without trying to hide the goofier aspects of kayfabe logic. DWJ embraces all of it in this hardcore matchup to make this splash as powerful a finisher as possible.

SMASH! Darren Warren Johnson seems to have done a Powerbomb on the whole OA community! He's delivered smashing pages, performed outlandish moves and knocked us all out (me included) with stunning action-packed comic art. Congrats on picking up this beauty!
