DescriptionThought this was a fitting image to post today as it’s been 1 year ago, today, since the passing of the late great Chadwick Boseman. I’ve said what I wanted to say about the man (read here if so inclined: https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1660307) so this time around thought I would leave a link to THE theme – listen to the first 1:42: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNrLj8OWj7I. Still gives me chills. Today also happens to be the birthday of BP's co-creator, Jack "the King" Kirby :)Here…Black Panther, Herald of Eternity?! A recent pick up that was all about the image. It’s from an obscure 5 issue mini-series, that I don’t believe is canon, but there were definitely some great images in it courtesy of relative newcomer Carlos Magno. The 5th issue came out recently so I’ll read the whole series start to finish soon. Initially thought to be killed by Kang, BP returns…a tad powered up. Just love how space is rendered throughout the whole board, and how BP is kind of merged with it. Great last page to the penultimate issue of the series – “TO BE CONCLUDED!” Thanks, fellow collectors James S and JN 88 for pointing me in Magno’s direction! And check out my last additional image below. Had zero idea there was a toy line of same name. But walking in Target a few weekends ago, there it was. Wonder if it came home with me? :) Social/Sharing |

Great song and I LOVE it's use in the end credits! Said credits are part of the film as far as I'm concerned! Thanks!

Wow. Now you have to track down the toy art to have the set.

Wow! I know he was just "Star Lord" but this is a whole new level. Nice piece and very fitting to mark a solemn anniversary.

More like "Lord of the Stars" here, right?! I totally forgot about the new What If show when I posted this but I'll be sure to check it out. Saw the reminder from M L as well. Appreciate the assist with this piece, man, and thanks for commenting. And thanks, all, for commenting! RIP Chadwick Boseman.

Cosmic ghost rider is the best. Actually makes me think of Lion King. Either way - a really strong image and love the effect of the stars here. Congrats!!

Looks like Eternity was tired of Galactus having all the fun. Black Panther, Herald of Eternity sounds pretty bad ass. And speaking of bad ass, how about that image! It a perfect conceptualizatuon of what a herald of Eternity should look like, imo. Man, that amount of detail looks like it took him a minute or two. And he drew separate pencils, too? Intense processes turn out intense work. Very cool score (and really nice action figure, too!). Big congrats!

"It loses its value if you take it out of its packaging" :) LOL, couldn't help but think of that movie line! Thanks, Marc!

I can't believe it's been a year since Chadwick Boseman left us. I rarely get emotional over the passing of celebrities, but I know I'm not alone when I say his departure hit me hard. This artwork is absolutely stunning, and so appropriate for today.

For real, man, same here. This one definitely hit me last year, the BP connection obviously being part of that, but he really just seemed like an honorable caring person who unfortunately left us too early. Thanks for the add, Michael. His legacy continues to live on!

Oh man, this MUST be framed and placed over your bed. Cosmically charged Black Panther WILL watch over you and make sure you don't EVER get attacked by Nightmare or any other alternate dimension baddie. Such a beautiful splash, K, congrats!!!

Gorgeous work, K - the wow factor is off the charts here - and I was stunned to see such detail in the pencils when Carlos did the inks on the piece as well; no "aw, I'll fill it in later" here... :) It's obvious how invested Mr. Magno was in this piece; what beautiful work, and what a fitting tribute to post it a year after the sad passing of Mr. Boseman. Beautiful central figure work, highlighted by all the cosmic winds. Great work at every stage - REALLY impressive ink work - but I think the pencils may be my favorite. Awesome pick up, K! Very, very special piece (how could anyone think 'Black Panther, Herald of Eternity' is NOT canon? :) ) - congrats!

Thanks, Jason! I did wonder, as part of his process, why so thorough? Not that I'm complaining, lol. His pencils, as you point out, are really finished. I've had fun comparing them to the inks, and there are some legit differences he must've thought out when deciding what the final published image would looke like. I generally prefer to have inks and pencils on one board but it is cool seeing the process when both are seperate. Especially with a piece like this!

Wow....this may be the most impressive piece of published art by a no-name I've ever seen! The fact that it depicts the character as a celestial body, part of the universe as a whole, is heavenly! Nothing to say about the colors, as usual. At least nothing good. But thanks for showing the process scans, as it's always cool for the uninitiated to see where the special effects come in. Brilliant!
Star light, star bright,

I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have this Panther I wish tonight.

Yeah, Magno. No-name now but not for long, I think. And thanks for the jingle - nice to hum to myself as I drift off to sleep ;) Appreciate the add, as always, Ruben!

It's rare for an image to look just as good no matter the scale. Whether I blow this up or view it as a thumbnail, the image remains clean, dynamic, and stunning. Because of that, I can only imagine what it looks like in person. Wow!
