DescriptionAfter a few weeks of commissions, moving back to published as the year closes out. Here, my 20th new artist add to the collection in 2022 – a page from Thor by Nick Klein!I’ve missed targeted pages on a few Klein Thor drops from Felix Comic Art, but was lucky to hit this time around. Missed on my first choice but got my second – I’ll take it! This page from an issue that starts a new arc, the Legacy of Thanos. Won’t get into much detail but here, but Thor and Runa have journeyed into the deep dark, and are being attacked, before Thor ignites the light! So much ink and wash on the board, used to great effect. The lightning and light take the baddies out in the first splashy panel, then the duo proceed further with Thor using Mjolnir like a lantern. Cool stuff. My fave Thor pages are when he’s actively using Mjolnir, to transform, to…hammer lol, to summon lighting like here, all that! I’ve looked at this one close and Klein exhibits some legit skill with those tones. Plus I’m a sucker for sound effect lettering drawn right on the board, and you don’t see that as often with modern art. Takes me back. “Rumble, young man, rumble! Aaahh!” :) Happy holidays, all! Excellent choice! What a great Thor page! I love Nic Klein's work on Thor. His ink washes give the pages so much richness and depth! Couple that with Donny Cate's great scripts and you've got a winner!

Thanks, Bill! Yeah, Nic's washes are tops. And again, huge congrats on the Moon Knight cover - amazing colors! This guy can do it all :)

What an incredible top panel "money shot," and then I really like the second panel where Thor and Runa look at each other kinda like "Yeah, *that* happened." Then they proceed with Thor using Mjolinor as a lantern. Really beautiful page with some amazing inks. Congrats, K!

This thing doubles as a flashlight? Imagine the spotlight games we could of played as a kid,
"Mommm, Johnny electrocuted Larry again"

:)
Appreciate the comment and subsequent chuckle, man, thanks!

You know there's a light that glows by the Mjolnir
Don't forget the key's thunder attack
When childhood stars shine
Always say Rumble Nick Klein
Go to search 'cause your Runa says to
Felix pickups every chance that you can
It won't be wasted time
Always stay Rumble Nick Klein

Fun page.
(but indeed, I didn't know He-Man was wearing a helmet these days? Likely another reboot I don't know about...)

Nic Klein has been killing the Thor interiors and this page is an incredible representation of his amazing work. Congrats Khalil! That half splash is wonderful.

I was already to comment on this awesome piece, and you know I love that onomatopoeia, but then you and Rubén bring He-Man nostalgia into the mix? Love the reference, and it totally fits. Where's man-at-arms? And I love how the power blast blows away the wraiths. Very cool page! KRAKA-SWEET!

Very cool art. This page stands alone so well as and it is hard to miss the manga/anime influences. Congratulations on navigating the art drops!

Times like these make me wish Marvel was still publishing oversized black and white magazines. Klein's work would be perfect for them. Fabulous page!

Oh, man, I didn't even think about that. Great point. I remember flipping lots through a batch of beat up B&W Conan mags my older brother gave me. And I'm sure I didn't realize it then the way I do now but a lot of that had to do with poring over the detail of the art in a way you couldn't with colors. Well, we may get a Klein Thor artist edition at some point :) Thanks for the comment, Michael, as well as giving me a quick trip down memory lane!

Oh, no doubt tough, man. I've whiffed on many a drop but have hit on a few here and there. Thankfully! Not sure I'd keep trying if I didn't. Well...yeah...I'd probably keep trying, lol.
And yes, a few pieces of yours I wouldn't mind taking a gander at myself. I THINK we can make that happen :) Thanks for the comments!

Wow - Another killer, K! I love the staging and layout here, with the shadowy figures so large in the first panel (giving the light something so massive to overcome), then almost a "calm after the storm" feel to the bottom two panels, so beautifully lit...
I won't lie: I always find it rather heartbreaking to see pages like this colored for publication... I mean, I get it - it's part of the gig - but this work is SO beautiful, SO effective in black and white (and grey and sepia)... Any time that the untreated base white of the page itself feels as bright as a lightning flash and makes you have to squint (as it does in -each- panel here), you're doing something right. And Nik is doing MANY things right here! I'm just grateful we get to see it in all its glory in your gallery. Thanks, K! :)

Totally agree, man, and take a look at Michael McIsaac's comment and my later reply above - allude to the same thing.
And yup, that iniital lightning blast in the splashy panel up top followed by the settling of said light in the next 2 panels was definitely one of things I dug about the page. Thanks, Jason!
