DescriptionGodzilla is everywhere in comics these days, every publisher seems to have acquired the rights to create new stories featuring everyones favorite kaiju!One series that I have particularly enjoyed has been IDW's Godzilla vs America series of one shots. The idea is that Godzilla goes against a single American city in each book and that book contains numerous short stories from creators who call (or have called) that city home. It has lead to just a really fun anthology series. My favorite of the one shots so far has been the Godzilla vs Boston issue, featuring stories by among others, Hayden Sherman and Jesse Lonergan! Jesse...yeah, broken record...I love the work he is currently producing! Known for his creative & geometry based panel layouts on his pages, its also fun to see him capture a single image for a cover. This one immediately places Godzilla, unmistakably in Boston as he stands in the historic baseball field, Fenway Park. I love that Jesse incorporated so many local landmarks on the cover (some I know, many I don't). Knowing Jesse though, nothing is here by mistake!! I also love seeing all of the underdrawings that show Jesse working through the perspective. Really a treat to see that aspect of the process! His story within the issue is also fantastic as it celebrates the history of the city set against a kaiju fight. Go check it out! My 2025 in terms of art collecting has been defined by a few themes, Energon Universe, The Moon Is Following us and Jesse Lonergan. It's been a good year! A fantastic cover with tons of iconic Boston landmarks and lore. Jesse is constantly evolving and this cover is no exception. Congrats!

Thanks so much! Whatever Boston landmark he couldn't work into the skyline here, he most certainly added into his story in the one shot. So many footnotes in that story, clearly a project he was excited to be a part of!

Oohhh I recognize many of these Boston landmarks from The Pru to the Citgo sign (which I used to live across the street from during college)! Such an awesome Godzilla AND Boston piece, love it. congrats man!

Thanks Kavi!! The Citgo sign was defintely one I knew, some of the names of the buildings, not so much! I do love that he worked in the harbor back there too.
Sidenote, thankfully the city wasn't attacked by a giant kaiju during those college years!

Lonergan bringing the cover quality kaiju perspective! Absolutely love that he is standing in the center of the ballpark. It changes the entire piece. Anyone betting on the Red Sox in 7 is going to be disappointed!
