DescriptionThe Scott Snyder/Greg Capullo 10 year run on Batman is one that I revisit often from Court of Owls to Death Metal, I found something to enjoy in all of the stories! It's also no secret that I really love the character of Jim Gordon, the glue that keeps Gotham together. He's such an interesting character in a world of super heroes & super villains. So when the time came in this run for a new Batman to emerge after the apparent death of Bruce Wayne, I was thrilled to learn that the new Batman was going to be Jim Gordon. It just provided an opportunity to take a look at Batman in a different way without making it an elseworlds type story, what would Jim Gordon Batman look like in the continuity that had been established by Snyder. Superheavy was quite an entertaining story and I honestly loved this sleak take on Batman. The Rookie (Bunny Suit) caught all the headlines, but it was this look that I really loved. Reading this story reminded me of how I felt as a teenager when Azrael took over at Batman. Obviously completely different, but I enjoy these type of stories when they have something interesting to offer. We had the ruthless 90’s Batman and then here we had the GCPD sponsored Batman. Just another fun story, and that’s what it’s all about.I have other pages from this run that feature Gordon at various stages along the way in terms of the overall, from start to finish, career of Bruce Wayne's Batman (Zero Year & Last Knight on Earth) so I thought it would be fitting for my collection to find a nice example from Gordon's time in the suit. Turns out this one was available, so here we are. This is his introduction in the story. Before this reveal, the Rookie had been seen and there were glimpses of just the cowl, but this is the full reveal of Greg's Gordon Batsuit. After I committed to picking it up, I realized this image was also used for a La Mole con exclusive variant cover, so huge bonus there. So yeah, I guess I own a Capullo cover now? I'll take it!
