DescriptionJohn almost broke the internet with this one. The concept, the composition, and the execution are in perfect harmony. Whoever thought that a giant rock could be a major element of an art piece? The storytelling is superb too - the surfer's body language, the newly created asteroid field, and Galactus' looming presence all contribute beautifully. I was absolutely thrilled to acquire this piece. John writes the following on his Patreon - "Here's a concept I've had rolling around in my head for a while. I like the idea of Surfer being a vaguely humanoid bright shape hurtling through space, with the debris of broken worlds being the only thing adding detail to the eternal void. It's tiny, but I think Surfer's remorseful body language says a lot about how he feels about his lot in life. And of course, there's the looming silhouette of Galactus, probably having just feasted on a doomed world. I think this is a cool idea, and I just wanted to see it for myself to sorta confirm that it actually works as an interesting visual. Most if not all of the detail will be in the play of light and shadow on all the rock faces. That's always fun." Mission accomplished, John. Amazing. 11" x 17" Social/Sharing |

Looking around it's plain to see
So many people buying for need
John’s art they want and who's to say?
The old Surfer gets there someday.
Draw in a straight line.
Norrin in a straight line.
Hard times, surfing in a straight line.
Always wanting to find your way
True to yourself you've gone to space
Flying cross rocks, it's not easy herald
Never give up, but if you have got it show.
Draw in a straight line.
Norrin in a straight line.
Hard times, surfing in a straight line.
One ray as a line is in your flight.
You know Radd inks can come mood.
So reach Amor screens and as crazy as it seems
Believing is all you can do, oh!

The giant rock is the real protagonist here! Another great atmospheric style piece by JA, very cool!

It's amazing that artists are still finding new ways of portraying a loneliness and majesty that Kirby started years ago. This piece definitely qualifies as a new way. I love it!

Not sure if that rock IS actually the focal point. At least for me. I mean, it's a great rock (as far as rocks go). But I have to say, when I clicked on this image, the very first thing my eyes went to is that simple yet powerful silhouette of surfer gliding in lonely silence. That single white line and that sole, solitary, white figure only accentuates the vast darkness and emptiness of space. But that's what it's supposed to do. The smallest element in the frame has the most profound impact on the mood of the piece.

Fair point! Major element, then.

I love these poignant pieces, especially of the Surfer (and Hulk of course). This one is a beauty, great idea and execution.

I'm usually not into Galactus and Silver Surfer. But, this is so damn impressive. WOW.

I LOVE the giant meteor diagonally separating the large, looming, DARK Galactus from the the tiny, LIT Silver Surfer. Brilliant!
