DescriptionPublished 1987in the Mayfair Games Role Playing Reference book Legion of Super-Heroes Volume II: The World Book The first illustration is on page 50 and if for the Heroes of Lallor, Life Lass, Duplicate Boy and Gas Girl. For a time Duplicate Boy was romantically linked to Shrinking Violet. Part of the second illustration, Element Lad, was as the header for page 18. I could not find if the Polar Boy image illustration was used anywhere. I actually believe that these were not done specifically for the Mayfair game book but may be unused illustrations for another DC Project such as Who's Who and then repurposed for the game book. Update: Thanks to Bits Boy from Bits of Legionnaires Business , the original use of these were for Mayfair Games but another RPG book: Pawns of Time Social/Sharing |

Man, these are really great character illustrations. I love the art Saviuk was doing before he got into the McFarlane inspired style on his second Web of Spider-Man run. The type of board he used makes me think of trading card art, but I don't think the Big Two had begun publishing those yet in 1987. I do agree there's a good chance that these may have been unused Who's Who pieces though.

C'mon!
I, am a comic art buyer
That wants to jump in role player
Your art's a roll in the dye
A dream Saviuk curve and line
But I don't understand
And all I need, is treat me like a fan
'Cause I ain't no child
Print it where you can
I got to know that this' Legion Who's Who
Used for anything for where it goes to
I'll bring any game that you want me to play with you

These pieces by Alex are really terrific, Miki. I do think there is some merit to your theory that they may have been rejected Who's Who pieces. But I think the most obvious thing that has not been noticed by others is that these were inked by Dave Hunt, not Alex. It's very obvious in the whole piece but, in the faces especially. This is just my opinion, of course.
