DescriptionFor me at least, Step By Bloody Step was as epic as God Country as far as miniseries go. It was (no pun intended) in fact a step beyond what any of us is used to - inasmuch as it had no dialogue whatsoever. This is not to detract from the input of the writer and, indeed, colorist as well as graphic designer. However, by the very nature of the project itself, the artist's contribution, in my view at least, was paramount. And Matías literally knocked this series out of the ballpark. This brilliant Uruguayan artist has created a masterpiece that literally speaks for itself whilst simultaneously lends itself to a number of possible interpretations (depending on the perspective of the reader concerned). This is - without exaggeration - a monumental achievement - which prompted me to do something I hardly ever do (because of financial cost, if nothing else), which was to purchase the entire final issue of this fantastic series. I hope to upload unwatermarked scans of the cover as well as pages of this issue in due course. In the meantime, I cannot recommend this series more highly. It has just been collected into a trade paperback and I was also very fortunate to land the cover (which you now have before you). I should add that Felix is an astute talent spotter because he, too, reps Geoff Shaw (whose artwork for God Country completely sold out a long time ago).Social/Sharing |

Really amazing how he drew each figure using a different line weight that would be appropriate for their scale and weight. Our immediate focus on the girl is tightly detailed and shows vitality and needing to move at double the pace because she is in the scale that we could relate to.

The last of the SBBS art...just a terrific series. Congrats on the the complete issue as well! It had been a while and I wondered if it did indeed go complete. I look forward to seeing anything you post from the last issue.

Many thanks, Tim! It was an absolutely extreme financial stretch for me but it seemed to me that it was thoroughly worthwhile to make the financial sacrifice for this issue. The pages are absolutely gorgeous!

Dear Tyler, many thanks! And many congratulations on your wonderful pages from this series (and, even more importantly, for your excellent and insightful commentary that accompanies your pages).

Leave some Step by Bloody Step art for the rest of us! :) Which reminds me I still need to post my lone SBBS page one of these days...
But it was a truly excellent series, and this is a great visual for the TPB collected edition. The spot red on the D is the (metaphorical) cherry on top. Congrats on the cover and the complete issue!

Many thanks, and I do look forward very much to seeing your SBBS page. It was a truly moving series - conceptually as well as visually. As mentioned, it was a real financial stretch to obtain the final book whole but the artwork is so fantastic that it was really worth it to make it happen with Felix's help.

Thank you. I have been slowly collecting all of the affordable things that I love. Amazingly, I had an open path to some of my favorite titles even though I entered so late in the game. I just kept blasting off in my own lane I guess. I figure I will hit a road block some day soon, but until then let the CAF building continue.

Just buy what you love and you can never go wrong! All the best!
