DescriptionPublished 1977The Day Bouncing Boy Bounced Back by Paul Levitz Bouncing Boy regains his powers in this dramatic 'splashy' page. Bouncing Boy is a great example of one of the reasons that the Legion was a fan favorite for decades. It included heroes with strange and apparently non useful powers who were then shown to cleverly use their powers to defeat their opponents. And by also including an non athletic hero in its membership. Bouncing Boy was created by Jerry Siegel and Jim Mooney and first appeared in Action Comics #276 (1961) as an applicant for membership in the Legion of Super-heroes. He was admitted to the Legion in Adventure Comics #301 (1962), after being initially rejected because his powers were deemed as impractical. Social/Sharing |

How could those powers be deemed impractical? Just love that bottom panel. Great page.

A dynamic Bouncing Boy page seems so counterintuitive, and here it is just so very perfect.

Hard to imagine a dynamic Bouncing Boy splash and yet here it is in all it's glory. You have to think that this is the sort of thing many will view shaking their heads with disdain - but for bronze age Legion fans this IS the stuff! Nasser's work during this time is as phenominal as it is scarce. And Abel does a great job here enhancing and not overpowering his pencils as we see too often with lots of Abel's work.

Great splash by two great artists! Abel certainly wasn't a fan-fave inker, but he did a terrific job on the Legion, especially when you consider how many different pencillers he had to deal with (most of whom were perpetually behind schedule). For years he was the only constant on the book. Thanks for posting another gem from your amazing collection!

Man, if you're a Bouncing Boy fan, this has to be one of the greatest pages ever drawn!
