Description

Here's Alberto Lavoradori's homage to Krazy Kat, a comic strip created by George Herriman which ran in newspapers from 1913 to 1944.

The strip focuses on the curious relationship between a guileless, carefree, simple-minded cat named Krazy and a short-tempered mouse named Ignatz. Krazy nurses an unrequited love for the mouse, but Ignatz despises Krazy and constantly schemes to throw bricks at Krazy's head, which Krazy interprets as a sign of affection.

Hilarious homage by Alberto Lavoradori to the classic Krazy Kat scene of Ignatz hitting Krazy with a brick! What a funny inversion of the scene---Having the brick hit Krazy with Ignatz! Beautifully drawn and lovingly inked, Alberto did a stunning job here. I love, too, that he painted this drawing using the same colors the Herriman himself favored in his color work. It's a fantastic commission that any Krazy Kat fan would love! Thanks for sharing this wonderful work of art!
