Description

Here's another page of Tom Sutton art from the Giant Size Man-Thing #5 story "There's a Party in 3-G" for your consideration. This is page 16. My posting from last night drew so much interest that I thought I'd show another page of original art from the same story. IMHO Tom Sutton was a much underrated comic book artist. Some of his work might be mediocre, but some of it was brilliant. He crafted a series of very stylish stories for the Charlton ghost comics of the 1970s (Ghost Manor, etc.) and well as some gems for Marvel and many nice inks on the pencils of others - like Gil Kane and Paul Gulacy. I raise my glass in tribute to the late, great, sometimes downright Lovecraftian, Tom Sutton!!

Lovecraftian is definitely right. I love the way that Sutton captures a dim consciousness in the last panel, with the bog beast remembering that it needs to rescue the baby from the demon. The lumbering form of the Man-Thing is also depicted so well.
