DescriptionGreetings CAF'ers. Today is my birthday and I thought I'd celebrate by sharing this one with ya'll!This year I started working to add some more X-men art to my collection. Being familiar with the McSpidey market, I know what a tight market looks like. The peak of scarcity in the X-men market is Jim Lee X-Men pages (Have you seen the heritage results lately!?). To make it harder, I really wanted some Wolverine action. Well, turns out my OA buddy rabidferret, wrote a whole article about how scarce and locked up that very specific (x-men/lee/wolvie) market is. Seemed hopeless. Sidebar: I have always tried to approach my OA collecting with the core principles of being transparent, helping my fellow collectors and doing fair deals (where both sides are happy with the deal). While I've probably missed out on some great pages with this system and probably done some deals that seemed dumb/crazy, I have found this approach over my 20+ yr time in the hobby has created positive "OA Karma". Sometimes patience, persistence and OA Karma line up and BAM! Magic. (end sidebar) Recently, one of my long-time OA friends, Mark, reached out with a trade idea. We worked it for a while and shook hands, and now I'm excited to welcome a Jim Lee Wolverine page to the McSpidey vault! The icing on the cake here is Scott Williams inks!! This is the issue with Cap, Wolvie and Natasha (Black Widow) that bounces between the present and 1941. On this page it's 1941 and you can't see it here, but young natasha is in the limo being kidnapped by a bunch of evil Nazis. o Panel 1 - Achtung! (The limo comes up on a mysterious figure -who could it be?!) o Panel 2 - Hmmm, this fellow looks familiar... o Panel 3 - It's the American from the bar (says the nazi) - let's run him over o Panel 4 - "Funny thing Bub.... "(Wolvie leaps over the hood, notice the way Wolverine is static but the motion of the vehicle and the alley - ❤️) o Panel 5 (super splasny) - "I was thinkin the same thing about you" - Wolvie crashes through the windshield KRAK (one nazi down) o Panel 6 - The limo rolls, tossing at least 3 more nazi's out. SKRAM! And the punch line my Canadian friends are going to love: "For the record, I'm Canadian and proud of it" Signed by Jim lee, Scott Williams and Chris Claremont Color version in aux images. Thanks Mark!! and h/t to rabidferret on educating the on this market. Social/Sharing |

Jim and Scotts run on X-Men is legendary; but this issue was particularly special. Very Memoral page with Wolvie kicking that Nazi through the car window. Lovely addition, congrats, and thanks for sharing!

Epic page Bub! Good ol' Wolvie taking it to the Nazis with a glass-shattering foot to the face and some Canada-proud banter. Is McSpidey fan becoming LeeWolvie fan? The consistent theme here is that your art targets remain prime examples that make the rest of us jealous!
And.... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! 🎉

My McSpidey collection was looking awfully thin so I'm glad we were able to work out a deal to both our satisfaction. Lee/Williams Wolverine pages are hard to come by and this one is fantastic. I had this page for about a decade and I hope you enjoy for just as long or longer. It was great meeting up and getting a deal done in person. Congrats on a great addition to your collection and happy birthday!

"Oh hey! Don't mind me...just lil' ol' McSpidey here dabbling in some X-Men art for kicks."
BAM!
"What? This? Just a wee Jim Lee Wolvie action page from 268"
Mr. Wingo going hard in the paint! Well deserved and like Derek, I can attest to the good karma you put out into the world (OA or otherwise). Congrats, Scot!

Oh yeah! Classic stuff! I know Jim's known for his covers and pin ups and rightly so, but he was a great interior panel storyteller, too, especially the action scenes - just check this out! Hard to top IMO as a Lee example. HUGE congrats, man!

OK, another Non-McSpidey piece and this one is a super duper doozy! Love the whole page and that big Wolvie panel really jumps off the page. Shall we start calling you the McGrail collector?

Fabulous X-Men page! I loved Jim Lee and Scott Williams' run on X-Men. And what could be a better example of that run than a page featuring Wolverine in action? Killer page, man!

Does it get any better than Jim Lee drawing Wolverine drop kicking a nazi through the windshield of a moving car?
