DescriptionDaredevil Issue 223 Page 25Writer Denny O'Neill Writer Jim Shooter Penciller David Mazzucchelli Inker Kim DeMulder I am truly humbled to have an example of David Mazzucchelli's work , let alone an example of his Daredevil. Issue 223 was a tie-in for Secret War II, in the issue written by Denny O'Neil and Jim Shooter. The Beyonder comes to Earth to hire Matt and Foggy to help incorporate and help with his acquisitions. Matt refuses to work for him so the Beyonder tries to persuade him by giving Matt his sight back as a retainer. At first Matt relishes having his sight restored , he spend the day with his girlfriend Glori seeing the city for the first time since gaining his powers. But alas he knows it can't last. This page is Matt calling for him to take back his sight as it might cost him his "Profound Sense of Justice." Issue 223 is four issues before Mazzucchelli collaborated with Frank Miller on the seminal Daredevil story "Born Again." You can see his incredible storytelling on this page. Heroes unmasked is an important and prominent theme of my collection and this was another reason that this page needed to be added to my collection. I absolutely love it. Wow, congrats, Matt! A Mazzucchelli is no easy get these days, let alone from DD, let alone such a nice example from his run! Great monologue page here capped off by that eyes close up panel at the end - great stuff, my friend.

Do you hear me, alien? I resign! Yeah, Beyonder, take this job and SHOVE IT!! Aside from the fantastic Mazzucchelli DD moment and art, the Secret Wars nerd in me loves that he's yelling at the Beyonder. I dig everything about this page. Big congrats!

Fantastic DD page! Mazzucchelli really put his heart in this one. Love the dramatic scene of Matt shouting at the sky, knowing the Beyonder can hear him. I love the long shot Mazzucchelli opens with and the series of tighter and tighter panels before cutting to the close up of Matt's eyes as he tells the Beyonder "NO!" Great, great page.

Only a select few collectors can say they own a page in which Daredevil isn't blind. Mazzucchelli goes down as one of the all time greats in my book because of images such as this. Speaking of goals, I'm working on acquiring a Mazzucchelli DD page myself.

Absolutely stunning! How awesome is it to pick up a Daivd Mazzucchelli page, let alone a David Mazzucchelli Daredevil page! Gorgeous panels with great images of Matt Murdock! Fabulous pick-up! Congrats!
