DescriptionJ. Scott Campbell has one of the most recognizable--and most eye-catching--styles in comics. His dazzling drawings of beautiful women and powerful men are quickly snapped up by comic art collectors of all ages. Recently I was pleased to pick up this variant cover to Amazing Spider-Man #1 (2014 3rd series), both pencilled and inked by Campbell. The cover features an enormous Spider-Man image, tucked up in a swinging pose and shooting webbing from his wrist webshooters. There’s a lovely drawing of Mary Jane as well, wearing a form-fitting T-Shirt with a sinuous tiger crawling up the front, a nod to her famous line, “Face it, Tiger, you’ve just hit the jackpot!” And just to keep things interesting, Campbell also included one of Spidey's most enduring villains, Electro, wearing the costume he wore in the 2014 movie, “Amazing Spider-Man 2.” Lightning bolts shoot off Electro’s body and fill the background with an eerie presence--It's just a knockout of a cover! I wish you could see the original art in person so you could more fully appreciate Campbell’s masterful linework. IMHO, this cover is a stunning example of Campbell's phenomenal talent and I’m pleased to add it to my ever-growing collection.Social/Sharing |

You got the centerpiece of a triple connecting cover! Peter with his main gal MJ! History will show that Campbell was, is, and will remain popular for what he does with the medium as an artist and a businessman.

This has everything you can want in a Spidey cover by Campbell. I love the nod to her famous line with the Tiger shirt. Now you can begin the quest for the other covers that connect with this one! Congrats!

This is a really nice ASM cover by JSC! I think I picked up a copy of this at Midtown Comics myself back in the day. The epic shot of Spidey, JSC's sexy MJ, and one of the best rogues in Electro...it has it all. congrats Bill!

I am a huge Campbell fan and Spidey fan. This cover is a little different. It's more graphic. Spidey is bigger than MJ, but MJ is in front of Spidey. Having trouble wrapping my brain around it. Do Love the images though! Congrats.

Everybody loves J. Scott Campbell, and the way he draws women. He definitely has a distinct style that is fully recognizable! A great catch!

Great JSC cover! Spiderman swinging really gives a sense of weight and motion and MJ has never looked better. Electro's elecatical lines really adds to the leading lines that help direct your attention. Another great aquistion. Congrats!

Any ASM cover it is always something very, very special. The Flagship Title of The House of Ideas!!! A real MUST for any OA collector, specially when it coves from a very relevant artist! J.Scott Campbell is a true moder master. This cover perfectly shows its talents! Superb artwork (as usual). Huge congrats Bill!

Congratulations on this new addition to your collection, Bill! The Spider-Man image is indeed huge, and it's great that a classic rogue is also included (though I'm not a fan of this newer costume. Classic costume for me, all the way!), but I gotta tell you that whenever Campbell includes a babe on the cover, especially Mary Jane on a Spidey cover, I always find myself wishing Spidey and anyone else was the background element and that Mary Jane was the focal point. He drew her at a pretty nice size, but I can't help wishing she was in the middle at Spidey's size and that Spidey were in the position she currently is in. What can I say? I want more of what Campbell does best! Still, all in all you got large images of Spidey, Mary Jane and you get Electro thrown in as a bonus. Not bad for a day's work!

While this cover is outstanding, what is also incredible is how innocuous the Stan Lee signature is. I almost didn't notice it b/c I was too busy admiring MJ, Spidey and Electro!

There is a great, RAW energy to this cover. Electro really steals the show - though foot fetishists will argue for MJ's foot being the real diamond here.
