DescriptionOriginal cover art from Johnny Bruck (* March 22, 1921; † October 6, 1995).Gouache on illustration board. Roughly 14 x 17.5 in size. Cover of German Atlan episode #28, published under the title 'Die Sandgeister von Occan' (The Sand Ghosts of Occan) in 1971. Atlan da Gonozal is a main character of the Perry Rhodan series. Given the character was very popular, it was given its own series within the Perry Rhodan universe starting 1969. It was quite successful and the last edition #850 was published in 1988. Most likely based on ancient Native American Southwestern eco cultures that settled within mountain walls. The culture abandoned this way of life and maybe even went extinct, hence the ghosts coming out of the caves here.
