DescriptionClassic story "The Man Who Falls" written by Dennis O'Neil and illustrated by Dick Giordano. This 16 page story builds on elements from Detective Comics #33, "Year One" by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, "The Untold Legend of the Batman" by Len Wein, John Byrne, and Jim Aparo, and other classic Batman stories. Christopher Nolan acknowledged that this story served as direct inspiration for his 2005 Batman Begins movie with Christian Bale.Originally published in the Secret Origins of the World's Greatest Super-Heroes book from 1989. The story was later reprinted in the Batman Begins movie adaptation TPB in 2005 and was also published as a mini comic that was included with the Batman Begins DVD set. One of my favorite stories retelling the origin of Batman. Social/Sharing |

Are those center panels all hand drawn? I love the subtle variations with his hair. Now I'm jealous on two fronts: (1) You own this and (2) That people have hair that continues to grow in over time.

The center panel on the far left is hand drawn on the page. The following 3 panels are stats with additional hair and beard drawn on each panel.

I remember this story well - it was worth the price of a trade collection that was otherwise filled with stories that I already had. Wonderful art by Giordano.

Yeah this story was the only original story in the 1989 trade. The other origin stories were reprints. "The Man Who Falls" happens to be one of my favorite Batman stories.

It's shows how determined Bruce Wayne was as anyone else with less resolve or impure intentions would have bolted. It is a test that the sensei uses to weed out the unworthy.

Agreed. Likewise, this CAF post is a test to see who will take the time to read and enjoy the page from this story. You are more than worthy Marcus.
