DescriptionOAX 2025 Pre-show commission!!!After hearing about it for months, I have finally hopped on the massive bandwagon that is Manix Mania and I couldn't be happier to be here! Fair warning, Manix's art is so awesome that mere scanners can't contain art of this magnitude! I tried and frankly it made the colors look ugly. Instead I took a photo and still had to do some tweaking in Photoshop to get it to look reasonable, but it still just doesn't do the colors justice. If you were at OAX and got to see this one in person, lucky you! I saw this piece for the first time at OAX and was absolutely blown away by it. I though I had wrapped my head around what to expect from a Manix piece, but I was so wrong. With a mask covering his face, we wouldn't get to see the trademark bug eyes that Manix does with his figures, so what else could he do to make Stingray his own? I wasn't sure what to expect, but this wasn't it and I love that! I told Manix that the cape in this image looked like a Spawn cape and he replied, "Well you know I'm a huge Spawn fan!" Well it all makes sense now. Manix also expressed relief when it became clear that I liked the art. He said he was afraid it was "too weird". I had to reassure him that I like weird. I *want* weird. I know what Stingray is "supposed" to look like. His appearance in the comics is a baseline; the "control" in the parlance of scientific experimentation. When I commission an artist to create a Stingray piece for me, I want to see the character filtered through their brain. I want Stingray to be the medium through which they express their unique artistic vision. Manix understood the assignment and I'm so thankful that he wasn't afraid to be weird. Social/Sharing |

really great piece, might be the most epic cape on a Stingray ever. Seems like photo is the way to go with capturing the magic of his color pieces, also think having it on that red background helps, digging that. congrats!

Thank you again for supporting Manix!I picked up so many great commissions at OAX I don't think I could pick a single favorite, but this one is definitely a contender! Thanks, Jiggy, for helping make this possible!

It's as if there was a nature documentary to follow Stingray around to capture just the right moment when it unfurls in an operatic display of nature at its grandest.

You've well become known for Stingray, but I feel this commission may tip the scale. Stingray is becoming known for you collecting him.

Knowing how his pieces in person are, I'm sure this piece is so vibrant. Love the flowing look of his cape (it's a cape right? lol). What's the size on this piece? And welcome to the Manix club

Manix excels when you let him do his thing. I have two Calvin and Hobbes pieces by him and the colors are amazing.
The details on yours with the bubbles and the Stingrays swimming in the background really stand out against the red costume.

Fantastic take! The character is colorful and vibrant as you would expect from Manix, but also appears graceful and elegant. The film "Dances With Stingrays" comes to mind.
