wow those are really nice pencils for a prelim or rough draft and it's so similar to the final cover. all the character work packed into the circular sphere in the middle plus the POV from the viewer is nice

Wow, if you can't own the finished cover then this is certainly a close second in desireability! It's so tightly finished and so close to the published piece! Okay, now that I've said that, are you going to surprise me by posting the published cover tomorrow?

No, I do not have the published one. I missed out on it many years ago and it appeared at a dealers site a year later for twice the price and I gave up.

I've Tharok, has binded Legion
Covers through Dick and Jim
Lines touched with real emotion
Faithful 'til the bitter end
Now, I must admit that the story's attractive
I've lost in war to the Legionnaires
I've seen all the Janes that pencilling can bring
I need to prove to myself
This is more than a rough
Can you convince me
It's not just a physical rough?
(Is this rough) that I'm feelin'?
(Is this rough) that's been ke]epin' me up all night?
(Is this rough) that I'm feelin'?
(Is this rough?)

That sucks, sorry to hear it. Though in hindsight, can I assume that the dealer's "double the price" would now be considered a steal?

Yes. But I am sure I was able to buy something else with that money that I would not have been able to if I had splurged on that cover.

The detail on this "rough" cover is amazing! I have always loved Janes' work on the Legion and this is an exceptional example of it.
