DescriptionI have a lot of pages I really love, but I don't have too many that give me the shivers and make me feel like I am holding a real piece of Marvel history. Maybe a couple. This is one of them.As the Grandmaster didn't appear on the cover, the bottom left panel on this page is his first ever appearance of any sort. And what a debut! Not just some shadow or small look...no...a GRAND appearance. "When Mortals meet me they call me the Grandmaster" And these words spoken to Kang! As a pure bonus, on the back of the page (check out the other image) Sal drew a grandmaster sketch...the first time he was ever drawn? A practice run? Who knows. But such sweet gravy! The minute I saw this page I knew I just had to have it, no matter the cost. Luckily the cost wasn't too crazy and with some money and some trade, this joined my collection. I couldn't be happier! This is a real three beller Fisch. great Kang panel that jumps right into the first appearance of the Grandmaster. I am a traditionalist and didn't like when he showed up in the last Thor movie. As of of the Elders of the universe I loved his fasination with all games. just a great lay out of two masters of their domains facing off. great addition to any gallery.

Beatiful early Sal Buscema page. Those very early Avengers issues and XM 66 are possibly his best work.

And then damn! Ya see Sal at his peak, I said
Damn! Space Marvel claps cheeks

Ya birthin' to the page without a care,
Make sure it's not DC, he first appears.
Now, I'm not as tall as the best of the Kang
But I Master the gap just the same

The story behind the piece is often what keeps me engaged on the site and I never leave comments if the post does not have a descirption included. After seeing the show on Youtube I had to take another look at this one.

I was sad that I was too busy to join your show recently as I always love the art you post. Kind of a cosmic fan myself. However, I finally was able to go back and watch it and thus now have a better understanding of this piece. Totally awesome and congrats. If it weren't for this page, we wouldn't have the Grandmaster ship on Thor Ragnorok coming out with all of the "Its My Birthday!!!" greatness. That and my family would be robbed of me singing it to them on a weekly basis, to include all birthdays. Ain't nothing better than singing this song to an oblivious three year old with a blank stair on her face lol. Congrats on such an awesome piece.

My son and my nephew run around together all the time saying "it's my birthdayyyyy" because of Goldblum in ragnarok! Love!

OMG! What a phenomenal pick-up! I'd love this page even if it weren't siginificant for the content! Sal Buscema and Sam Grainger were on fire here. Sal's work is just amazing--Look at that sceond panel with the close-up of Kang, it's just perfect. And of course, the first appearance of the Grandmaster is beyond words! Beautifully composed, compellingly drawn and masterfully inked, this panel is one for the ages! Serious congrats!
