DescriptionSometimes it just comes down to "the heart wants what it wants."My two favorite comic stories as a kid were "What if the Phoenix had lived" and "What if the Avengers had become the pawns of Korvac." A year or two ago, Dino hooked me up with a couple pages from the Phoenix story, but the Korvac cover....well that's been a regret for a while. See, in 2018 or 2019 this cover popped up on eBay. I NEEDED it. I was going to win it! It had to be mine. So I bid higher than I've ever bid before....and came up short. I couldn't believe it. I had such regret not bidding higher. So when it showed up again in the recent Heritage auction, I decided to throw all common sense out the window and just make it mine. I could always sell other art/comics to make up for the craziness, and so I did. And this time I HAVE NO REGRETS! (and no money) I am thrilled to add this cosmic cover to my collection. (Great job Bob and Joe!) (And thanks again Dino!) Social/Sharing |

The only way this piece could be better is if there was a giant bald dude in a skirt acting coy.

"What if" Fisch stopped getting awesome Space Marvel pieces? Nah, that story is too crazy to write!

I remember buying this as a back issue during the summer between fourth and fifth grade. I had not yet read the original Korvac Saga, yet I loved this book and must have read it a dozen times that summer. Huge congrats on obtaining a piece of art with so much personal meaning (and it doesn't hurt that it's an amazing cover).

Cosmically delicious! The cover totally satisfies the Galactus sized Space Marvel cravings. The blank figure has the cosmically vast thigh gap to birth the four Avengers flying out from it! This is a specific kind of pawn that only a few (like the Watcher) would be conditioned to watch.

I, too, remember being mesmerized by this comic when it came out. The story blew me away...and, now, this cover does so too. Congrats on your journey to get it....

Great page and painful, then happy story. I shared something very similar on my Hulk 228 page via comiclink auction loss followed later by getting the page via offer. Congrats - happy to see this in your collection!

I too recently dramatically overpaid for the object of my desire. Kinda feels good though, doesn't it?
Gorgeous cover that epitomizes this genre you so clearly love. #spacemarvel

This is a stunner! I love the layout and classic Marvel design with the floating heads with the big central figure and great addition with some of Marvel's biggest characters. So much to love. Congrats!
