DescriptionSometimes a particular piece eludes you over and over.In 2019, when I was still relatively new to collecting oa (by many standards, I guess I'm STILL relatively new), this page came up for auction on Heritage. I knew I had to win it. From all the Spiderman stories I had read as a kid, this storyline and it's dark, suicidal undertones stuck with me the most. And from all the pages of this story, this page was the one that I remembered most. Sure, the story has lots of pages of Spidey and Kraven and battles and yada yada...but this page....this one WAS the story to me. Here lies Spiderman, slain by the hunter! Spidey is buried! Alive! And there's rain and thunder and you can hear it just by looking at the page. KRAKOOOOM! I always loved this page. I knew I had to win that HA auction. I put in a healthy bid, and planned to continue when the live auction began. Unfortunately, that was the same day as East Coast Comic Con, and I was with my wife and kids at the show and forgot! Somebody else got it. One of my bigger collecting regrets! Unbeknownst to me, the auction winner sold it to Dino at some point. Dino then sold it on Comic Art Live to Dinesh (that's when I found out Dino had it), and I've been trying to get Dinesh to sell it to me since. After a couple of years of attempts, Dinesh messaged me that he would trade it to me for a different piece I owned. A piece I also loved. But not as much as this one. I know Dinesh wanted that other piece, but, really, he knew how much I wanted this one and wanted me to have it. So, thank you, Dinesh! Although, I've had expensive and beautiful acquisitions this year, this one is by far my favorite!!! You've helped me secure a very memorable piece of my childhood! As for the art itself, what can a mere mortal like me say about Zeck and McLeod that hasn't already been said? What a team! Social/Sharing |

Birth page of the rat that brought Ant-Man back from the Quantum Realm and thus saved the universe in Endgame.

A truly creepy scene. Perhaps a good example of Zeck chanelling Wrightson on this page. Just a great mood setter for the story that is to follow. Congrats!!

So happy it's with you! An incredibly important page from an incredibly memorable story. My pangs of jealousy are stifled only by the piece you traded for it :)

Great story, some of these pages mean alot to us. copngrats on securing it. Un related, but I have a pretty sweet ASM #246 page that Dan Green gave my mom when I was a kid around '86?? Anyway, I still have it today, its a bit of an oddball in my mostly Bisley etc collection but it has a lot of personal memory to me, I couldnt ever let it go no matter what.
Hold onto this one. I definately remember this entire story as well, and will prbably go dig it up and re read it again.

Sincere congrats on this one, Fisch! Arguably one of the most memorable title pages from an iconic ASM story. I am very jealous!!!! The first appearance of a young Master Splinter just sends it over the top :)

Whoa, so memorable, so great, I thought it was the actual B&W promo poster I first saw (close!), not easy to make such an iconic Spider-Man image without our hero, huge congrats!!

I love the back-story of art finding it's true home. The 2nd (3rd, 4th?) round snag of this piece that moved you as a kid is what makes this hobby so great. Huge congrats, Fisch!

Kraven's Last Hunt, one of the best storylines Marvel has ever put out (not to mention its tremendous art throughout the story arc). Dark and foreboding, this killer splash is pure genius. Congrats , truly a Grail!

Persistence can pay :) A classic title splash from one of the most well known Spidey stories out there, and a personal fave. A lot of that has to do with Zeck's amazing art - case in point. What a way to set the scene and the tone. Congrats!

Wow! What a memorable page one splash! Such a seemingly simple scene but with horrendous consequences! Fabulous pick-up!
