Description

This British soap opera strip ran from 1956-1967 in the UK's Daily Mail newspaper, depicting the life and loves of a young model. The "Off Stage" storyline occupied the last quarter of 1960 and dealt with Peter, a neurotic playwright planning a break from his domineering sister Sibyl, who manages his professional life. Note his constantly bowed head, afraid to look anyone in the eye. In this installment near the story's climax, Peter visits Carol rather than going to the theatre.

David Wright has garnered substantial attention in the collectors' community for his exceptional use of hatching to convey light and texture. Note the varied directions of hatching on Carol in the first panel, the dense background crosshatch in the second panel, and the reflection in the mirror in the third panel.
