DescriptionAfter realizing he was manipulated into letting the New Mutants go to the Massachusetts Academy, Magneto is on his way for a reckoning. But the White Queen isn’t going to let her new charges go that easily. She sicks the Avengers on him, and Warlock is wounded in the process. The muties intervene to save their self friend and former headmaster. And with the combined efforts of Erik and Emma, they finally work through their post Beyonder trauma.Jared does some beautiful landscapes, and I had seen on instagram that he occasionally worked in comic characters to previously completed ones. Although he had sold all his winter scenes, he was stoked to do a new one, and add in a discombobulated Warlock. Although I’m sure a Magneto vs Avengers scene would’ve been fun for this issue, I like having some variety in this commission history. I love the seemingly scenic vista Jared came up with. 18x24. This piece has emotional peaks and valleys. Inspirational to look at with the mountain backdrop where only the top of the face sees sunshine.

great landscape piece made even cooler with the comission theme easter egg! personally love and enjoy looking at landscapes/nature scenes in art but we don't get to see as many of them around these parts which makes this extra special. congrats!

Warlock’s "head in the sand", techno organic form set against an icy, mountain landscape creates a striking contrast. Jared’s skill with scenery combined with the wild, expressive nature of Warlock's character makes for a unique and visually compelling piece. It captures something more atmospheric and introspective than your usual commissions (or anyone else's for that matter), adding a lot of depth to your commission history. A fantastic choice!

Thanks, buddy. As I get further along in the history pieces, I'm trying to be more deliberate with mixing it up. Some of the issues left don't have a hard and fast concept, so hopefully there will be more out of the box commissions in the next few years.

So I was looking for Warlock in this beautiful landscape and wondering why I couldn't find him. (Kind of like looking for Waldo in a Van Gogh painting). And then, I spotted something that looked wrong. It was a strange, twisted something with a yellow eyeball and then I realized it was a broken, twisted Warlock left out in the wilderness. Sigh. Then I read your write-up and realized yes, I had found a discombobalated Warlock. I miss Warlock. Of all the New Mutants, he was always my favorite.
