DescriptionI have been quite fortunate to have been able to pick up some nice examples from the incredibly fun Gunslinger Spawn series thus far, but one goal was to go after a cover if it was one that really spoke to me and was available. I’ve shared on here before that I really do feel like Brett is cranking out some of the best art of his career on this title & the pairing with Adelso has been just absolutely stellar. Adelso adds the proper level of grittiness to Brett’s electric and dynamic pencils! It’s true that “pin-up” covers are a dime a dozen these days, but this to me has the nice level of pin-up meets story context. Not only is it the obvious context of the Spawn lore and its constant Heaven vs Hell battle but within the current storyline, Gunslinger has been “infected” by an Angel, weakening him…but not without him fighting back. This, to me, represents that nicely! This one was initially solicited to be a variant cover for issue 19, but for whatever reason it got bumped back a few issues and a Virgin variant of this one was added to the solicits. I’m glad they did, this one does look stunning on its own without any of the trade dress. Just a powerful image! This cover is gorgeous as is and the published cover adds another layer of beauty with its use of color as the stained glass window shatters! As soon as I saw this one solicited, I reached out to check on its availability. I knew as soon as I saw it, this was the one for me. Thrilled that Adelso had it and was willing to sell. Nothing beats working with an artist directly, knowing that all of the funds I am spending are going directly to them! Love that feeling! Social/Sharing |

This is soooooo good, congrats!
Thanks! It honestly may just be my favorite image of Gunslinger to date. Such a great "in your face" action piece from Brett, very representative of his work on the series to date!

Thanks so much! Adelso mentioned how proud he was of this piece. He said he really wanted to do Brett's pencils justice & it shows! A wonderful pairing for sure!

Great cover and I like the original black and white version even more than the published version. Nice pick up.

I'm taking a stroll through all the Spawn pieces on CAF since it's "Spawnuary". Love this piece.

While sometimes the Spawn stories aren't always top tier storytelling, the art more than makes up for it. Spawn always has some amazing art, and Gunslinger Spawn is no different! The first 24 issues with Brett & Adelso's work is just pure energetic comic book fun!
