Description11x17 bristol board, inks over pencilsHere's an admission: I got into comics through the 90s X-Men cartoon but I'm not that into the Jim Lee Cyclops costume. That said, I really like how Josh Cassara has been drawing it in recent issues of X-Men. I picked this up from Josh's table during SDCC 2023 (along with a truly awesome commission he did for me) and it was great to see his artwork in person. I'm a big fan of the work he's done on X-Force and X-Men and the level of detail that goes into it is something else. He was also incredibly nice! There's some fun action on this page and WHUDD has to be one of my favourite dumb sound effect words. Fall of X started a little early and very literally for this poor dude because he's about to get thrown off the Treehouse in a few pages from this one. Social/Sharing |

Cyclops could have just used his optic blast, but he probably wanted to show off. He scores a Whudd for his bravado! Cassara stages the page perfectly with Cyclops initiating the action that is met with fierce rejection!

Suh-weet seeing Cassara's rendition of the '90s Cyke look! Match made in OA heaven! And takes a lick and claps right back! I'm a Cyke fan, myself, so like seeing art featuring him. After all, he was right :)

From Morrison's run onwards, Cyclops gets such an interesting, tragic, slow burn character arc and it felt really rewarding as a reader. I was happy to have him back in the HoX/PoX reboot (well, slightly before) and I'm glad the X-line is going strong again. Especially if we get art like this!

Oh, dude, I know. Cyke's arc over the years...highest highs, lowest lows. Always dug that duality of the character - insecure but always steps up to lead and make the tough choices. Guy Wolverine butts heads with but who also one of the guys Wolverine respects most.
Congrats again on the page!

Great Cassara page from the epic start of the FALL OF X. Nice find, I am really enjoying his current work on X-Men and the previous work he did on X-Force.
