DescriptionMaybe it’s because I was born during the 1970s disco boom and the music was everywhere during my early years, but I have an appreciation for the disco genre. I grew up with my mother frequently calling “Saturday Night Fever” one of the greatest movies ever made. As a teenager in the 1990s, I was listening to the Bee Gees and Donna Summer alongside Nirvana, Boyz II Men and other groups that were huge at the time. So maybe that helps to explain why I love Dazzler’s original costume so much. When it came time to try my luck at the most recent Comic Art Live Mystery Sketch opportunity, I decided to go with Alison Blaire in her original costume. Sanya Anwar did not disappoint. I’m thrilled to have this piece in my art collection.If you haven’t taken advantage of the Comic Art Live Mystery Sketch opportunities in the past, I recommend doing so next time. Love the detail on the shoes and bracelet to really get that light reflecting disco ball effect. I'm sure this piece was a nice surprise!

I've seen Anwar’s artistry (yeah, oh, yeah)
She handled it beautifully (yeah, oh, yeah)
All this Cox is new to me (yeah, oh, yeah)
I feel the Dazzler craze creepin' up on me
Surreal, I'm damned if I do give a damn on roller skates
Cool deal, Studio Fifty Four they want from me
I just wanna stay in that Dazzler craze

Dazzler was the original Taylor Swift. Except that Dazzler is a comic book character. And isn't actually real. Yet they've both dated John Mayer.

Why fixate on Mayer, Mayor McCheese? Seems like double standards when you've spawned the McDouble and the Quarter Pounder with Cheese, not to mention your daliance overseas with Royale with Cheese.

Gorgeous figure and great sense of movement and energy. I also like all the sparkles (dazzles) to go with that '70s vibe. Although the Taylor Swift song works and the soundtrack to Saturday Night Fever or a song from Carwash would easily fit, the first thing I thought of was the song Brand New Key by Melanie. Can't shake that one from my head now. 🎶

Brand New Key will forever more in my mind be tied to this.

Dazzler's such a fun commission subject in large part because I think artists just have FUN drawing her! Definitely get that vibe here. A real lightness to this one that resonates. Congrats, M!
