DescriptionI had been interested in getting a Johnny Peril page since I'd seen many turning up lately so I bid on this complete story and won it from Heritage. Here is the listing which I did not agree with completely.Jack Sparling (attributed) The Unexpected Unpublished Johnny Peril Complete 10-Page Story Original Art (DC, 1971). Created in 1971 and placed into the DC Inventory, this piece was subsequently kept in inventory (and re-stamped each year) until officially "Written Off" in 1977. The story "Last Stop: Oblivion!" has remained unpublished. Created in ink and Zipatone over graphite on Bristol board, with an image area of 10" x 15". There are some whiteout text corrections on some pages. After-the-fact, someone has affixed a modern-day printed logo/credits box on the top right of Page 1. As the story was unpublished, it is not clear if these credits are 100% accurate. The Johnny Peril series might have ended with Unexpected #114 but his last story was published in 1970 in Unexpected #117 by Sid Greene. This story definitely looks like Sid Greene art rather than Sparling. This story did go into inventory in 1971 and get written off in 1977 but page 10 does have a 1994 DC stamp on it. I'm surprised that DC didn't publish this story in the 100 Page Giants that started up in 1974. Social/Sharing |

Rare unseen artwork! For fans of the title, they would have to categorize its existance and ponder if there would have been ramifications depending on where the story fit into continuity!
