WOWWWWWWWWW!!!
Glad you still have it pal but remind me again what I was thinking when I sold this to you... ;o)
You were thinking, "I can't believe this idiot is paying so much!"
Well...it looked like it worked out quite well from a value standpoint! It's scary to think how high this thing would go if it hit the auction block today. Me---if it was a grail for me, I wouldn't sell it...period (I think, at least!). But, I have been offered insane money for items i (still) own. And in today's market, said artwork is worth even more today. But your piece is in a different level with many BIG dollar buyers. Tough, tough decision! BTW--great page! I only collect monster magazine art---but I do remember this splash from the comic I bought off the stands
Showstopper! Wow
Excellent!
Legendary! Pure legendary.
Iconic image - huge congrats. That's a keeper :-).
The real thing ;)
This looks like a million dollars (or there abouts).
I'd bet more---but who knows where this thing will be ten years from now!
WOW! Congratulations!!!
Wow, what a gorgeous Splash of Black-suit Spidey!
Congrats on a beautiful spidey page!
We all wish we had been smart enough to acquire this gem!
What an awesome and significant piece! Hope it still brings you as much joy today as when you obtained it.
Thanks Brian. It still does!
This is one of those moments when you remember where you were when you first learned of this significant moment in Spidey's history. Incredible pick up.
My friend and I skipped out of class at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh to go buy it the day it was released.
Historic and grail page Dan !!! A real Gem
Pretty iconic and historic page for Spidey, congrats!
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Unbelievable piece to own.. my hats off to you
Amazing page! I *think* this is my biggest "one that got away" story, if I'm recalling correctly. If memory serves, this splash went up for auction at the Florida MegaCon around 1993 or so, and I was the high bidder until the winner overbid me, somwhere in the $400-500 range, which was a lot back then for a barely-a-decade-old page. It was definitely from ASM #252, and I *think* it was this page. Do you know its history? Maybe you were that high bidder! Anyway, it's a grail beauty for sure!
Hi John and thanks for sharing your story. I was not the high bidder and didn't land this page until roughly 10 years later.
Listening to you on CAF tonight point out all the reasons this piece is magical. Hold on to it in good health!! God bless your grandma
Thank you Steve....
