I think this is my new favourite sketch card in my entire collection!! Jeff always does a "warmup" card during his WhatNot streams that he auctions off for a slight discount. Last week he mentioned he wanted to do a male character for the warmup card, and to nobody's surprise I suggested Brainiac 5, but Jeff joked that I already have a bunch of Brainys from him, so it was time to diversify. Out of nowhere, he remembered that I had once mentioned in passing that someday I want to get a bunch of L.E.G.I.O.N. characters from him, and before I even knew what was happening he was looking up reference images for Vril, here.

I actually don't think I can put into words just how much I love this card. Jeff did such an incredible job!! As far as either of us can tell, this is the first time he's ever drawn Vril, so I'm even more pleased to have picked it up, as the first of its kind. I think the most impressive part is that Vril is so far removed from what Jeff usually likes to draw (adorable young ladies), and Jeff still absolutely nailed Vril's look. I think all the extra lines and shadows around his eyes work really well to make him look his age - you'd never mistake him for a member of the LSH! Jeff also mentioned he can't believe how intricate the L.E.G.I.O.N. symbol is, and can't imagine having to draw it nearly every panel in a comic, so props to him for getting the two symbols on this card pretty darn accurate! He also gave Vril a yellow outline to indicate he's surrounded by a forcefield, and even though Vril technically didn't have his forcefield belt while he wore this costume, I like the concept so much that I think it just makes me like this card even more. And of course, Jeff's space backgrounds are my very favourite, so it's just the cherry on top of this awesome piece.

Jeff does a great portrait of VDII here from costume/LEGION symbols, to skin tone, force field effect, and the cosmos in the background. congrats on adding another great piece of his to your collection!
