Description

The nice thing about having summer employment and some extra money to spend is that now I can commission cards from Jeff on a whim! As usual, I commissioned this one during his WhatNot livestream. I suppose I was just in the mood for a classic Legion costume, or maybe a fun alien character, because I asked him for Shadow Lass sort of out of the blue (heh). Up to this point, I've focused on commissioning characters and costumes from Jeff's run on Legionnaires, although some animated Legion characters and L.E.G.I.O.N. members have snuck in there, mostly as cards Jeff himself opted to draw and then auction off. This was the first time I asked for a character from the pre-reboot run of the Legion, and from there it's sort of spiralled into a proper series of Cockrum-Grell-Giffen era sketch cards, so stay tuned for more of these!

I think this might be one of the nicest sketch cards Jeff's ever done, honestly. It's definitely in my top ten favourites. I think he gave Shady's face some sharper lines, in keeping with her design from the 70s and 80s, and I like that the darker blue he used to highlight her hair and costume is different from all the blues he used to shade her skin, which keeps everything very clear and visually distinct. And of course, Jeff's colourwork and blending for her skintone is as impressive as it always is (if not more, because she's, you know, blue!). I also like the little bit of purple or grey he used to achieve the metallic gold effect for her tiara.

She looks like a pop princess with her tiara and fresh blemish free good looks. This can be on a teeny bopper magazine or pimple cream ad with how Moy does her skin tones.

Oh, you just know all the 30th century magazines were tripping over themselves to feature Legionnaires in as many ways possible!

Those eyes are so pretty! Beautiful depiction of Shadow Lass by Jeff on this sketch card. Def one of my favorites of his I've seen you post so far as well. congrats!

I agree that the eyes on this one are very striking! And I'm glad you agree that this one is particularly nice.
