DescriptionHere is my first new art of 2024, featuring Marvel's greatest cosmic characters! Mark told me that this commission depicts the moment that Galactus transformed a young man named Norrin Radd into his herald.Mark is a truly superb artist and this piece shows just how great he really is. Powerful moment that Buckingham was inspired to be as clean and bold as Kirby and Sinnott! Pure cosmic energy flows throughout the composition.

Outstanding! Channeling vintage Kirby but still all modern Buckingham! Throwback feel and fresh at the same time. Congrats!

There it is! Wish I could have seen this in person, but I appreciated the sneak peek while you were in town. I love absolutely everything about this. I don't like to throw the word "perfect" around too much, but it's the only word that comes to mind. My first instinct would have been to run straight to Mark and jump on his commission list. But like I told you when you were here, I think this piece has ruined me for any Buckingham commission. I can't imagine getting anything that I would love more than this. Congrats buddy! Enjoy the heck out of it. I know I sure am. And it's not even mine!

Breathtaking commission of Galactus and the Silver Surfer by Mark Buckingham! Love this image depicting the moment Galactus turned Norrin Radd into the Silver Surfer! You can almost feel the cosmic energy Galactus is using to turn a flesh and blood man into a cosmic being! The pose of the Surfer is perfect--you can tell he's feeling the board to find the perfect balance. Buckingham's inspiration is clearly influenced by the work of Kirby and Sinnott but the final look is all Buckinghham. I love that Buckingham decided to nod to his inspiration by adding a bit of Kirby Krackle in the background. Fabulous pick-up, congrats!
