DescriptionNot sure when/where I saw James’ art first but I loved it right away. Maybe that Sullivan’s Sluggers book. But wow!Anyways, when he did the aliens book I knew I wanted a page. I thought this page was spot on for what I liked about the book. I remember emailing cadence to ask if it was signed and they specifically said “yes, it is signed on the back”. So I ordered it. My understanding is James is Canadian and doesn’t do any US appearances so I wanted to make sure it was signed bc I’ll probably never get to meet him in person. Well, the page arrived and there is no signature anywhere. I reached out to cadence and they offered to let me ship it back to them to ship to him to sign it. That sounded like way too much work so I asked if he could just sign a piece of paper and do a little squiggly like alien or something so I can save them together. They said sure! Well, after a year I followed up. Then every six months or so I’d follow up again. Each time I was told it’s coming. FIVE years later I got an email with tracking. Then I got a notification it had been delivered! Weird thing was my ring didn’t notify me. Well, I got home and no art. I checked with the neighbors but none of them received it. I reached out to cadence again and they said there was nothing more they could do (and I don’t blame them). I basically went to war with the post office. Bombarded them with calls and e-mails basically demanding that they provide the gps coordinates of the scanner when the package was scanned. About two weeks later a different postal worker showed up and dropped it off. Holy shit. When I opened it I would say I’m glad I was patient and I’m glad I spoke up to the post office (see additional image). I’ll update the listing when I find what issue this is from. It’s not written anywhere on the page and I can’t find my original order confirmation. Meh- important thing is what an incredible page it is. His new twilight zone issue may be one of my favorite single issue comics of all time!huge shout out to Bedrock for pulling one for me without me asking bc they knew I’d dig it! meanwhile, here's a great review that includes this page: https://nexuswookie.wordpress.com/2017/06/18/aliens-dead-orbit-by-james-stokoe/ Social/Sharing |

Sometimes the fight behind the scenes to get the piece is what makes you appreciate the art even more. Glad you finally got it!
