DescriptionThis piece floored me the moment I first saw it. It's arguably one of the finest images of Spider-Man 2099, but with a cool horror-themed aesthetic: a play on McFarlane's iconic cover for Spider-Man #1 that showcases Miguel O'Hara's more animalistic characteristics as Spider-Man 2099.Joe and Brad didn't pull their punches. In fact, it was Joe's first piece of artwork for Marvel, ever, and while the piece was initially intended for Spider-Man 2099's main run, it was later published as a frontispiece in 2099 Unlimited #9. St. Pierre and Vancata were definitely channeling McFarlane with the creepy, twisty, and webby splash look! It might be the image of the series if not for those pesky covers that always take the spotlight.

FUN FACT: This is the first page that I pencilled for Marvel. Brad Vancata did a great job on inks!
