Description

I religiously bought this comic as a kid in the 80s. Having read those original DC mini comics that were bundled with the ole Atari cartridges (Berzerk, Swordquest, Yar’s Revenge, etc), seeing this comic on the stands made it a must buy. It had a Guardians of the Galaxy vibe long before the MCU brought it to film. The Star Wars influence is felt on this as well (spaceships, swashbucklers, and aliens).

Multi page sequence (including title page) featuring Dart in one of the coolest costume designs. Grateful to the eBay seller who accepted my offer to buy the bunch. Would have been tragic seeing this marvelous sequence split up!

Wow - the splash page is stunning, the black ink work is mezmerizing and it's expertly handled by Andru, and all three pages together are incredibly moody. I don't think I've ever looked at Atari Force art before today, and this was really a treat to take a look at. Thanks for posting!

Thanks Doc!  Lopez handed over the pencilling this issue (guy was busy guesting for other better selling titles), although he inked it.  Agreed, Andru does a fine job.  I also like the black page.  Definitely moody.  Cheers!

Great page JLGL's inks really elevate Andru's art close to his own level here.

Amazing inking over Ross's pencils.  So much, that the inks have a textured appearance to them.

At Marvel, Ross was inked primarily by Frank Giacoia and Mike Esposito, who were both decent.  But I look at Ross's work with Dick Giordano and this, and am more impressed than his Marvel work.

Wow, some breathtaking Andru/ Garcia-Lopez Atari Force pages!  And it is always a treat to get sequential pages.  Love them all, but page 2 is my favorite.  Superb composition, figure drawing, placement of spot blacks and the icing on the cake is the logo on the bottom of the page.  Many congrats on a great find like this.

Thanks!  Loved this oddball series, especially the Dart character design.  So unique.  A lucky eBay find from last year (courtesy of the ComicArt Tracker website).  These pages must have been in a collection since the 80s/90s, 'cause I had never seen them before in all my years of collecting.  Ross did this one justice.
