DescriptionStar Wars: Legacy (Vol. 2) #6 Pg. 11Art by Brian Thies Written by Corinna Bechko & Gabriel Hardman May The 4th Be With You!!! I love Brian Thies' work on this Dark Horse Comics Star Wars title and have already shared several pages in the past. I was also finally able to meet Brian while picking up a few more pages from the series at OAX 2025 this past January. Here we see Imperial Knight Jao Assam recovering/healing from being seriously wounded in a Bacta Tank while traveling in a space freighter. We have seen the use of Bacta and Bacta tanks throughout Star Wars in various forms probably most famously with Luke Skywalker in the Empire Strikes Back after he was wounded by the Wampa on Hoth. I always hoped to get a page/example of a Bacta Tank from the comics and was happy to find this at OAX among the new pages that were brought to the show that were never previously available online. I also love that the original art has X-Wings and Tie Fighters on it as that's how Brian did it on the art, but in publication those were changed to different designs for story/timeline purposes. Thanks again to Mark Hay at Splash Page and Brian! I'll be hanging out with Ruben and some Star Wars buddies tonight at 8 PM ET looking at Star Wars art over on Ruben's YouTube channel to celebrate May the 4th. Join us! Social/Sharing |

Those future Legacy TIEs were an interesting design. Nice bit of production change caught there between the original and the published. Man, I too love Brian's ink work on this series. Lovely!

Nice shadowy work. Could've sworn this was Gabriel Hardman's art.

Oh, the art, babe, has such teeth, dear
And is Ezra pearly white?
Just Jao Knight is in bad health, babe
And Thies keeps it out of sight
You know when that art life with it's teeth, babe
Star Wars heroes start to spread
Fancy gloves, though, wears droid med health, babe
So there's never, never a page of death
Now on the side talk, huh-huh, huh
Ooh, Sunday evenin', uh-huh
Lies the doozies just doozin' life, eek!
And Assam's sneakin' 'round the corner
Could tank someone come bacta life?

I love this artist's artistic style and inking techniques!! The Bacta tank is a really cool concept too. Boba Fett had that cool bacta pod in his Tatooine palace. I wonder what those go for on Amazon...better grab one before those tariffs really set in...

Cool use of white for blending and creating the X-wings in the black area. Nice pick up Kavi!

It's always impossible for me to choose favourites, but out of all the artists I've been introduced to via Jeff's yearly Star Wars art posts, I think Thies might be my favourite. I guess that's not surprising, seeing as he comes from the Zaffino/Guice/Perkins school of realistic, shadow heavy brush inking. Cool to se the tie-fighters, of course, but really it's everything else that makes this page great.
Because you know I'm all about that brush
'Bout that brush, no pencil
I'm all about that brush
'Bout that brush, no pencil
I'm all about that brush
'Bout that brush, no pencil
I'm all about that brush
'Bout that brush... brush... brush... brush

Such dark and moody inking for the page with great touches of whiteout! Also a big fan of the inclusion of the tie fighters and x-wings!

I'm unfamiliar with the artist but they create some striking images with those inks!

I love how he illustrated the control panel of the Bacta Tank in the middle. My goodness, how did he draw that?!!

Stunning page from Star Wars: Legacy by Brian Theis! I love the composition of this page, with the Imperial Knight Jao Assam in the Bacta Tank recovering rom injuries in the main panel and the close-up of his face as he dreams of battles between Tie Fighters and X-Wings! Brian's style is tremendous here. I love the sketchy, scratchy linework he uses. Generous use of blacks and dollaps of white paint give the whole scene a very painterly look. Fabulous pick-up, congrats!

We have also noticed a severe deficit of Vitamin C.
