Ryan Sook created this unique take on a Carol Day daily for the 'David Wright's Carol Day: Lance Hallam' book published in 2023.

Ryan had this to say about his creation - 'I based the whole thing on the entire [Lance Hallam] strip incorporating my own humor and thoughts about the material to give Carol a �breakout� shot in the center panel with dialogue corresponding to this strip and alluding to a ton of specific material from the entire plot line'.

So many levels to this piece and Ryan really delivers on the composition with Carol literally breaking "the wall" to direct the viewer through the strip. Magnificent!

I like the design that Ryan came up. Carol literally oozes out of this strip. Not an obvious combination of artist and subject matter but it worked out really well.

You can tell Sook did a lot of study to get this strip right and to break out the big showy central image. It is a demonstration of what stands out already to a lot of Carol Day fans of the illustrated glamor shot.

Love the homage here, but it's the small details that really stand out for me- the title stat and the random blue pencil notes (the "fix" note for the signature made me chuckle). Congrats!
