DescriptionEarlier this year I was fortunate to win an auction and add a piece by Alcala from his career in Filipino komix. Posting that to CAF was one of the best things I could have done. Fellow collector (and now friend) Steve Staszower reached out and offered me two pages from his amazing collection. He had the insight to pick these gems up years ago. I am very grateful he was willing to part with them now.Here is the first of the two consecutive pages. Believed to be part of Alfredo's "Voltar" story in this issue of Alcala Fight Komix published in August 1963. I have not located a copy of the book yet to verify this. There is a bit of discolorization on this art. Occurs in a way that makes one question if it was not in a frame for a time. The board itself is in fine shape, and shows now color shift on the reverse side. Fantastic work by Alcala with superb background details and nice figure work. Social/Sharing |

The middle panel is my favorite. In particular the two figures on the right. Incredible work by a master.

The figures and backgrounds are indeed excellent. The translation is a nice addition to understand the context. Congratulations!
