DescriptionA Bruce McCorkindale mashup of 2 pieces of Dave Stevens art to make a new Rocketeer/Betty pinup. Bruce filled in missing art elements in such a way that it would be as much like Stevens as possible. Pen, brush and ink on 13" X 20" Bristol board.Bruce said "Re-creating Dave is always intimidating, but supplementing his art is downright nerve-wracking." Social/Sharing |

While I understand the term's use here, having the word "mash" in any part of describing this beauty seems almost wrong. Ha! Probably still my favorite image (and pose) of Betty that Dave has ever done. Of course thanks to you, I have my own recreation of this classic. But there's something about seeing it in b&w (especially with the added scene) that really solidifies the emotional connection with Dave's work. I guess I would be more jealous if I didn't have the other version I got from you. Heck, I'm STILL jealous! Ha! Congrats Ray!

The piece you got from me is also great - that's for certain!

Betty's foot coming back from the edge is pretty cool as it is what connects the two classic images together. A bit of adventure and a bit of cheesecake by McCorkindale gives us an overload of Stevens' greatness to pay tribute to his legacy.

Definitely a risky challenge recreating Dave Stevens and even more so mashing them together for a new composition. Still, this came out beautifully, so congrats!
