DescriptionAfter a long day of adventuring and discovery in Hell, a tired Lil Diana Rests up in the arms of her stepmother Circe and drifts off into a peaceful slumber.Exquisite art as ever by the supremely skilled Hayden Sherman - from the unusual panel shapes and design, smart use of shadows and silhouette, remarkably detailed linework through to the subtle nuances of emotion on every character's face. Check out those sweet little demons and monsters chilling with Diana in that last panel! And I'm sure the pig is a direct reference to the beasties which Circe turned some miscreant sailors into in the story of Odysseus. Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman are creating a masterpiece in this story - the best thing I've seen in comics for years! Social/Sharing |

Well researched mythology and well designed origin page by Sherman to present Absolute Wonder Woman as a person raised in hell and surrounded by monsters.

Thanks Marcus! My wife did the research, she's a classicist who knows her stuff. So seeing the piggie made her think this is referring to the story of Odysseus - making the mythological references all the richer. And I agree, Sherman's page designs for WW are a knockout.
I'd also add that not only do we see Diana as raised in Hell (when she was sent there by cruel & fearful gods as a baby to die!), she tames it and makes it her home through her fearlessness, while civilizing and making the monsters fall in love with her huge, kind heart. A lesson and role model for us all...

Without a doubt, the best title of the Absolute line so far. Great, quiet page.
