DescriptionOne word. X-BABIES!
About the art. Marcio Hum is an artist and designer. According to his Instagram post (see Additional Images), this piece was done way back in 1999 but was only displayed for the first time this past May 4th (Star Wars Day). Pretty cool that it’s been tucked away for 25 years and just now pops up, but also that it happened to be available for purchase. It looks to be a movie poster inspired design for Episode IV, A New Hope. I love that it includes the core six (Han, Luke, Leia, Chewie, R2, and 3PO) and the main villain. But some nice bonus inclusions like Obi-Wan, Storm Troopers, X-wing & TIE fighter, and even the Death Star. For me, the only character I would have loved to see on it is Yoda. But if it is indeed a movie poster homage to A New Hope, then of course he couldn’t very well include Yoda. Anyway, I may not have an Art Adams X-Babies piece, but until I land one, this wonderful and super fun SW-babies piece will suffice. Thanks for stopping by and we’ll see you soon. Social/Sharing |

And so it begins. Was wondering how long it would take for all the puns and quotes to start rolling in. Or, as they say in the movie.......

Okay … you have so many amazing pieces in your collection, but this one immediately jumps to my number one fave! I absolutely love everything about it!

really fun movie poster style homage piece to A New Hope! the style almost reminds me a little of Chibi versions of the characters but I also understand the reference to X-Babies. always feels good to add art to your collection that doesn't hurt the wallet as much. nice find!

Stylistically, you are correct. Marcio's mini universe characters probably owe more to Chibi than to X-babies. But being a massive Art Adams fans, you knew I had to go there right? LOL

Fun piece with a style slightly resembling the iron studio minico figures. Congrats!

That's it exactly. Marcio works for Iron Studio and he does minico figures of other groups like the X-Men, the FF, the Turtles, the Harry Potter cast, and others. That's pretty much all he posts on his IG page.

Ha! No need to take offense Marcus. CAF is as close to social media as I get. I don't Facebook, I don't Tweet, I don't Instagram, I don't Snapchat, and I don't Tik or Tok. I was simply doing research on Marcio and ran across his IG page and this piece. Anyway, as the king of comments, you already have more than enough friends.

Have to say that Darth Vader doesn't seem so fearsome. Mainly because so many other characters look so intense. I wonder if someone that was totally Star Wars-oblivious would agree. However, this is a great homage to Episode IV.

Haha! Why? Does that big head of his remind you of Rick Moranis in Spaceballs? If you look at just the head, it still looks pretty villainous to me. But when you factor in the proportion, then it does seem a little silly. Kind of a like a Funko Pop. But you're right, the rest of the characters look really intense. Especially Chewie.

Confession time... I have never seen Spaceballs.

The gang's all there! Fun take on the SW cast and I like seeing all those brush strokes...must look that much better in person, too. Congrats!
