DescriptionDaredevilArt by Manix Abrera Sketch Card OAX 2025 A little late to the post-OAX art share party, but better late than never. It was a really great show with amazing memories that were created. And on a personal level, redemption for what I went through in unfortunately having to miss the show last time around. I'm starting with the free sketches and gifted pieces I walked away with, which nearly doubled the amount of the art haul I came home with. Very grateful to the friends who gifted me artwork, and to the CAF team and artists for the free sketching session on Sunday. I didn't do a ton of buying at the show, but everything I did buy I was extremely happy with getting. When the 90-minute free sketch card session began on Sunday, I had the likely popular plan of heading to Manix straight away. I was second in line, right behind Lee Harmon, who had the brilliant idea of having Manix draw himself. I wasn't that smart and kept it pretty basic, gave him the choice of either Elektra or Daredevil, and he opted for DD. For a quick (and free!) sketch I absolutely love how this upside down high flying aerial Daredevil above NYC came out on this sketch card canvas! I saw so many nice fully finished Manix commissions and cover re-interpretations there - I'd love to get one of those eventually, but I rarely setup pre-show commissions these days, and would rather opt for spending my money on stuff that inspires me at the show after I see it live in person. I have a video file of Manix drawing the entire sketch card, which is an awesome memory to have, no way to upload video to CAF, and I haven't had a chance to export the file to upload it to YouTube or elsewhere though. Also, someone took a photo of me and Manix after it was done, but it wasn't with my phone and I don't remember if it was someone on the show floor or someone in Manix/Jiggy's booth, and I have no idea how to get that image. I'd rather not bother Jiggy with that kind of favor but maybe it will turn up eventually. Social/Sharing |

All if the sketch cards I've seen from Manix have been fantastic, and this is no exception!

Nice pickup. Did you show him your parkour moves for inspiration?

Great sketch card and the memory that goes along with it makes it even better. It was so great to see you and hang out at OAX! Really glad you are back in the con circuit and there was honestly no better way to mark that occasion than an order of those delicious, hand dipped buttermilk....

Matt Murdock’s journey as Daredevil is one of rigorous training and self-improvement, but also perpetual struggles with personal issues and inner turmoil. How does Manix’s use of satire here play off the character’s background? How might the artist have portrayed this inner turmoil had he had a canvas of more time and space to work with.
Thank you.

Please allow for me to have time to discuss this matter with a historian and a human philosophist prior to returning a response worthy of the serious nature of your comment good sir.

A super fun Daredevil sketch card! Big props to Manix and ALL the artists who participated in the "Free Sketches" portion of the convention. It's a welcome way for collectors get something back in return for all the money they spend throughout the year in a hobby that has gotten increasingly out of touch with many collectors' budgets!

I found myself looking into top loaders
Knew he was the who I waited to meet
He was sketching like the way that I wanted
But the lines reminded me, I'm Kavi
Believed a sai or anything Daredevil
Says I got to go, card is going Marvel
But Abrera gonna go there again
This is Manix is
This is who I am
This is where I finally take my Matt
I didn't wanna fall
But I don't spidey crawl
I met the One with cool artist fans
Giving this the sketch of everything that's best of
The life inside this man
I am Born Again (yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah)

Me, Marcus, Manix, & Mico walked into Miller's...too bad no one saw us, but there's always next year to make more memories!

Oh wow, I love this! Manix can capture the essence of a character and setting with such economy of line. Super fun pick-up!

I was grateful to the Manix line for allowing us to cross paths. OAX is a smaller crowd, but I find myself still without time to visit with everyone. (Guess that is why you have to go every year!)
What a COOL sketch card you came away with Kavi. For a guy known so much for his color work, it amazes me Manix's ink work is so fun too!
Thanks for sharing this here with us, and even more for making the trek to Florida and sharing time at OAX 2025.

I like seeing the black and white Manix. It goes back to his roots.

Manix can do so much in so little space!! I love this piece, and it's no wonder the line for Manix was so long!!

It's great to see that you were able to attend OAX and get this cute little Daredevil by the Amazing Manix!! I love how expressive he can be with so few tools.
