Description9 x 12 mixed media commission reward for Vol. 2 of the Katie Skelly-edited horror anthology, Viscere. For the second volume of Viscere, the thematic focus shifts from Vol. 1's body horror to folk horror, with contributions from Caroline Cash, J. Webster Sharp, and Skelly herself. I backed the Kickstarter for Vol. 2 at the original art tier, of course, which means I received a lovely and spooky Picnic at Hanging Rock color illustration by Skelly. Peter Weir’s 1975 film definitely aligns with the theme of Viscere Vol.2. Skelly also sent along a nicely-produced published zine featuring all of the original art she drew for backers. I'm partial to the one I received but they're all great. Social/Sharing |

Spooky! It turns the question around, "Who would a woman trust more in the woods, a man or a bear?" These three witchy ladies are like sirens to Odysseus' crew.

It's a fun little piece. Given that Picnic at Hanging Rock is more of a mystery/suspense film however, what did you think of the juxtaposition of that film genre being adapted in what is more of a children's storybook style?

Didn't bother me. PAHR becomes a mystery/suspense film although it doesn't start that way. It starts relatively innocently, as this piece conveys, with the three girls setting off from their group to explore.
