DescriptionDie Hard: Year One #1 Cover (Cover C) by John Paul LeonA published 2009 cover example by the late great JPL from the 8 issue prequel series to the film "Die Hard" published by Boom! Studios and written by Howard Chaykin. NYC attitude from a throwback era, feels like a cover to an epic Scorsese film to me. RIP JPL Die Hard is a movie/series I would regularly rewatch when I was younger (along with some of the sequels) in its unofficial Christmas movie adjacent status (for me it IS a Christmas movie ha), often with replaced dialogue to cover curse words on network tv, but I'd find other ways to watch it eventually and even now it remains a personal favorite. Happy holidays Yipee Ki Yay John McClane Song choice: Beastie Boys - "Sabotage" Social/Sharing |

Fabulous Die Hard cover from John Paul Leon! Love the powerful composition and the thick dark inks! It has a strong poster-like look!

Bro, you're killing me. This cover art is magnificent. I'm finding it hard to find the right words to express how great this piece is. Suffice it to say that stuff like this transcends the superhero genre. I mean I love that stuff as much as most of us do, but if I was ever going to use up one of the very few spots on my wall I still have available to frame and hang comic book art, a piece like this would get the call over just about most superhero pieces. Then you add Sabotage by the Beastie Boys to the mix and all I can say is, it's a trip! It's got a funky beat, and I can bug out to it!

right there with ya, def one of my personal favorites. I haven't been as big on displaying stuff on the walls versus portfolios for pieces in the last few years but this one def deserves a spot somewhere.

Nakatomi Plaza
Nakatomi love songs
You Hardly Die for me anymore
When I come through the door with the Yippee-Ki-Yay
I remember when
You couldn't Nakatomi
Miss McClane would leave me
Now mother effin me late at night
When it's Gruber too
And you're feeling alright
Well, you just Hans Gruber and fall from the height
From Nakatomi Plaza evermore

Love the music choice and a perfect piece for the holidays. A fine match for the holiday special coming up. I think I may have to rewatch these this year its been a while, but loved them as a kid.

Hot Take. Carl Winslow best character in that movie.
" I shot a kid. He was 13 years old. Oh, it was dark, I couldn't see him, he had a ray gun"
Sure John saved a building full of people but Carl saved the planet. Stopped an alien invasion.

Masterful work by the great JPL. And "Sabotage" remains one of the best music videos ever made.

Thought I had already commented on this beauty! A stunner of a cover forged from the incandescent talent of John Paul Leon. A masterwork of lighting and composition - all of it, everywhere, is JUST ENOUGH and PERFECT. Like you, I generally go with portfolio storage over framing, but this piece may just require a trip to the shop for a fitting, just to be able to hang it and look at it every day... Congrats on the stellar pick up, Kavi!
