Description

"L'Inferno di Topolino".

This is a 1949 story written by Guido Martina and illustrated by Angelo Bioletto. We're talking about one the first Disney stories fully realized by Italian artists and at the same time the first important one published on "Topolino" (Mickey Mouse) magazine. We're talking about the first "Grande Parodia" (many parodies related to literature and cinema followed).
We're talking about history.
This is a story every fan of Disney comics in Italy knows and loves.
Mickey Mouse is Dante Alighieri, Goofy is Virgilio. Martina used a lot of Disney characters in the story, including the ones from the movies and cartoons.

And you know I love this story, right?
(just looking at my home page, with Celoni's rendition of the Inferno on top of everything)

And I also do love Mastantuono's art... so him drawing a homage to Martina & Bioletto's masterpiece was amazing when I first saw the art printed in the latest (deluxe) reprint (to celebrate Dante Alighieri's anniversary, 700 years from his death) of "L'Inferno di Topolino".
Here's the original art piece, a fully penciled artwork that Corrado then digitally painted (see attached images).
See Mickey, Goofy, and Donald navigating one of the hell's rivers with quite a lot of (angry) devils around!
