Description

It has always been notoriously hard to date very early Bringing Up Father originals. George McManus did not date his early strips, there were no copyright notices on them, and there was a complete absence of modern reference material -- one would have to go through newspapers or microfilm of newspapers and hope that the printed version could be found. But in 2009, a publisher (Forever Nuts) reprinted the first two years of the strip, which began on January 2, 1913. I know of no original strips from 1913, and until this strip turned up, badly misdated to c. 1920, the only original from 1914 of which I was aware was the one for December 16, 1914. I have since learned that there is one earlier original from 1914, which would make this the second earliest Bringing Up Father original of which I am currently aware.
