I generally prefer Peanuts daily strips over the Sunday pages. I passed on a large number of Sunday originals over the years, and this was the first that I liked enough to go after. Amazingly, the day before it came up for sale at a Howard Lowery auction, I received a call from a major comic art dealer who asked me to bid on it for him. I told him that I couldn't since I wanted it. That was the one and only time that anyone asked me to bid for them during my 50 years as a comic art collector. Although there have been a few really great Sundays in more recent years (I'm writing in 3-2021), they have sold for 10X or more than what I paid for this one. Fortunately, this example is from within my favorite period for Peanuts, has the two characters I would want if I could only have one Sunday, and has some very nice panels (number 5, 8, and 11, in particular), so I am content to have it as the representation of a Schulz Sunday page original in my collection.
