DescriptionI collected 2000AD from Prog 1 and my introduction to Dredd was courtesy of Mick McMahon and years later I thought it would be nice to have a commission by this giant of my childhood but when I asked a couple of years back he wasn't taking on any. Although he was kind enough to remember my interest last year and tell me he had some time coming up.I initially decided on Anderson and Death and we discussed some ideas and was surprised to discover he had never drawn either character. On the way I decided it was odd not to have old stoney face himself in there and started with the idea of Dredd and Anderson fighting back to back. Mick it seems was a little reassured to have at least one character in there he had drawn before so it all worked out. I think it turned out great. The inking style is very different to how I had imagined it but his style has constantly evolved over the years. I happened to just show it to Dave Gibbons who recognised it as he had coincidentally contacted Mick the day before to complement him on the piece. Social/Sharing |

Heck of a commission - when they are this good it makes you think CAF needs multiple categories for them.

This is absolutely one of the best (along with the Cursed Earth piece) commissions that Mick has produced. Stunning work!
